Marijuana laws are changing rapidly. Legality varies by state, but marijuana remains illegal on the Federal level. What does a home health agency need to consider to provide safe patient care, uphold legally responsible standards, and maintain professional practice? Is it different for hospice agencies? How do you align the needs of the agency, patients, and professional staff? Have you considered the implications of legal status – decriminalized versus legal for medical use – for medication safety, documentation, communication, patient education, or staff safety? What about requests to administer marijuana or marijuana infused products? Join us for a discussion of what we know (and don’t know) about managing marijuana in home-based care, and how to address this complex issue in your agency.
